Kaiser Permanente Dental Offices Help Patients In Need

Kaiser Permanente’s mission is to provide high-quality, affordable care not only for our members but also for the community. So far this year we’ve had the privilege of hosting charitable dental care days at our Sunset, Eastmoreland, North Lancaster, and Rockwood Dental Offices.

“Each clinic came together to provide personalized, quality, and efficient care,” said Dr. Jody Callaghan, general dentist at the Kaiser Permanente Cascade Park Dental Office and our lead Community Benefit dentist. “Our community partners commented that their patients were enthusiastic about the wonderful care they received at Kaiser Permanente Dental. One patient wrote, ‘Everyone was so kind and friendly. I’m so grateful for their care.’”

We offered these events in partnership with Salem Free Clinics, the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Reynolds Middle School, Medical Teams International, OHSU, the Multnomah Dental Society, and Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center. At these four events combined, we provided 97 patients in need with $61,633 in free dental services.

“The patients and community partners were truly thankful for the care provided. We even had one patient asking how to become a Kaiser Permanente Dental member,” said Lynn Ellis, Dental Support Services supervisor and organizer of these events.

In addition to these four free clinics hosted by Kaiser Permanente Dental offices, we participated in a (belated, due to inclement weather) MLK Day volunteer event at Battle Ground Health Care, where 14 patients received nearly $9,000 in free dental services.
